Is Velachery a good base for an OMR job?
It's the strongest hedge available. The OMR office cluster around Taramani and the city-centre employment belt are both reachable without a car. You pay more than most of the corridor for that, and the payoff is that changing jobs across the city doesn't mean changing house.

It has a well-documented history, and the low-lying eastern streets near the marsh behave differently from the rest. December 2023 is the benchmark, when Cyclone Michaung produced the heaviest single-day rainfall the region has recorded in recent years. It varies sharply street to street, so ask what happened on that street that month.
How is water supply in Velachery?
Better than most of OMR. Velachery is among the areas named in the allocation from the 150 MLD Nemmeli Phase 2 plant, which improves the odds of a piped connection. That's an area-level probability, not a building-level guarantee, so still ask each PG about supply and storage.
