01Which side of OMR?Crossing on foot at peak hour is a real daily cost, and you do it twice a day. Ask where the nearest signal or subway is, then walk it once before you decide.
02Judge it by the service road at 6:30pmMost local movement happens on the service roads, not the main carriageway, and metro work has narrowed them in places. The main road at noon tells you nothing.

Is Thoraipakkam or Sholinganallur better for a PG?
Thoraipakkam has the corridor's widest spread of PG options and the second road axis west toward the airport. Sholinganallur has the larger employment mass at ELCOT SEZ and will get the corridor's only metro interchange, but its junction carries the worst evening traffic on OMR. Compare the rent distributions on both pages, where every figure shows the rooms behind it.
Is there a metro station in Thoraipakkam?
Not running yet, but four Corridor 3 stations are planned inside the area, the densest spacing on the OMR stretch. The line is currently targeted for 2027 and has slipped before. Station names have been revised, so check CMRL for the current list.
Does Thoraipakkam flood?
It took some of the worst of December 2023, recording around 45 cm of rain in a single day. The causes are structural: undersized stormwater drains along OMR, a corridor built partly on filled wetland, and missing drainage exits toward the marsh and the Buckingham Canal. Two of the requested exits are in this area, near Mettukuppam bus stop and on Chandrasekhar Avenue.
